Comforted After The Loss Of A Child

We miscarried a child this week. I wish I would have scheduled time for a retreat earlier this summer, maybe we would have had a better outcome. Still, as I prayed about a name for this little one, "Raphael" came to mind, like an angel to pray for our family.

To better pray for this child, we looked for a weekend getaway to process this loss. On Friday morning my husband looked up the retreat schedule. As this weekend was titled "St. Raphael", it was a perfect fit. It was very timely that A.K. Frailey also shared her story about a miscarriage which still resulted in a healthy daughter, the twin of the miscarried child. She had her daughter with her.

Although we are old, perhaps God will still bless us with one or more children. We have been blessed with one son and three daughters so far. We desire, like Fr. Whalen's mother, that we would have children who would be open to a vocation in religious life. I did feel in prayer that it is possible. May we be obedient to all God asks of us to allow this possibility. I did feel a healing and protection upon us. Prayer makes such a difference!! Thank you for all you do.
