There Is No Unity In the World Without Unity In the Family

September 7-9, 2012

We have often heard the saying "as the family goes, the world goes". Listening to Fr. Philip Scott, the founder of the order 'Family of Jesus the Healer', we will learn how important family life in the early years is to the formation of young adults and future parents. Fr. Philip is a sought after speaker and retreat master, covering topics such as marriage, apologetics and family relationships.

ReliquaryThe relics of St. André Bessette have never before been to the midwestern states, but that will soon change as the relics visit Vandalia, IL, and other locations! We are so pleased to be able to offer the relics of this humble Saint for veneration and prayer.

Retreat Master

Fr. Philip Scott is the founder of the Family of Jesus, Healer community, a family of priests, brothers and sisters dedicated to Christ and His Church, to be his instruments of healing for families, including not only the individual domestic family, but also the broader family of the Church and of society. The community has served as missionaries in Chaclacayo, Peru, since January 10, 2003 in the Diocese of Chosica under Bishop Norberto Strottman.

Born on August 9, 1845, Alfred Bessette entered the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1870 and took the name Brother André. As doorkeeper in one of the congregation's schools, he fostered devotion to St. Joseph among the sick and otherwise afflicted and soon became known as the "Miracle Man of Montreal" due to his gift of healing.

In 1904, Brother André founded the world-renowned Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal. He died on January 6, 1937, and one million persons paid him a last homage. He was canonized on October 17, 2010, by Pope Benedict XVI. You may read more about this humble saint here.

Lord our God, friend of the lowly, you gave your servant, St. André Bessette, a great devotion to St. Joseph and a special commitment to the poor and afflicted. Through his intercession help us to follow his example of prayer and love and so come to share with him in your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord. Amen.

St. André Bessette, pray for us.
